Arterial ulcers result from inadequate blood supply rather than pooling, and they demand a different approach: compression that helps a venous ulcer can cause harm here.
Assessment establishes what the circulation can support, and we refer for vascular evaluation where perfusion is the limiting factor. Wound care proceeds conservatively in the meantime, because a wound cannot heal on blood flow that is not arriving.
